My long run workout had me running 6miles at goal ½ Ironman pace, 6 miles just faster than goal ½ Ironman pace, and then finishing strong in a 10k-pace mile. Well, with the 90% humidity and almost 90degree weather, I figured I would add some time to these paces. I also knew many girls would go out harder and try to hang on, so if I listened to my plan, I would catch up to them in the latter half of the race. My prediction was dead on, and I honestly only felt junky between miles 8.5 and 11, which is pretty good considering how the day unfolded for many runners.
Thanks for all of the support throughout another Kona training cycle. I am so blessed to have so many people believing in me and rooting for me, and use your support to get through the (mentally and physically) tough aspects of training. I can’t wait to reach that Start Line on October 10th!
